Menstrual Cycle Tracking

Overview

SteadyState's menstrual cycle tracking helps female athletes monitor their cycle, log symptoms, and understand patterns over time. Your coach can view this data (read-only) to better understand how your cycle may affect your training.

Getting Started

Enabling Cycle Tracking

  1. Go to Account Settings

  2. Find the Menstrual Cycle section

  3. Toggle Enable Cycle Tracking on

Once enabled, a cycle tracking widget appears on your dashboard.

What You Can Track

Cycle Information

  • Cycle Day - Automatically calculated from your start date

  • Cycle History - All your past cycles with start dates and lengths

Daily Symptoms

Track 37 different symptoms including:

  • Physical: Cramps, Bloating, Headaches, Fatigue, Back Pain, Breast Tenderness

  • Digestive: Nausea, Appetite Changes, Cravings

  • Mood: Anxiety, Irritability, Mood Swings, Depression

  • Energy: Low Energy, Difficulty Concentrating, Sleep Issues

  • Other: Acne, Hot Flashes, Joint Pain, and more

Each symptom can be rated on a 1-5 severity scale.

Bleeding

  • Log whether you're bleeding each day

  • Track intensity: None, Spotting, Light, Moderate, or Heavy

Notes

Add optional notes for any additional context.

How to Log Your Data

Quick Log for Today

  1. On the cycle widget, tap "Symptoms today?"

  2. Choose Yes or No

  3. If Yes, select your symptoms and severity levels

  4. Add bleeding information if applicable

  5. Save

Log Past Days

  1. Tap "Log Past Days" on the widget

  2. Select the date

  3. Enter your symptoms and bleeding info

  4. Save

Start a New Cycle

When your period begins:

  1. Tap "Start New Cycle"

  2. Confirm to set today as Day 1

  3. Your previous cycle is saved to history

Edit Cycle Start Date

If you need to adjust when your cycle started:

  1. Tap the date next to "Cycle Day"

  2. Select the correct start date

  3. Save

Viewing Your History

Cycle Chart

Tap the cycle widget to open a detailed chart showing:

  • Average severity over time

  • Individual symptom trends (toggle specific symptoms)

  • Time ranges: 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days

Summary Stats

  • Total days logged

  • Number of bleeding days

  • Average symptom severity

Cycle History

View all past cycles with:

  • Start date and cycle length

  • Day-by-day breakdown

  • Symptoms logged each day

  • Bleeding patterns

Coach Visibility

Your coach can view your cycle data to:

  • Understand energy fluctuations

  • Adjust training intensity as needed

  • Provide better support during challenging phases

Coaches have read-only access - they cannot modify your data.

Tips for Best Results

  1. Log daily - Consistency helps identify patterns

  2. Be honest about severity - Accurate data leads to better insights

  3. Use notes - Track anything unusual or relevant

  4. Start cycles promptly - Mark Day 1 when your period begins

  5. Review your history - Look for patterns across cycles
